When Using Batch Update via Profile, custom Display name and Sort name is Reset to Default

Description

The demo site has a non-recoverable error when taking step 1, (Thread stack overrun).

To replicate:
1. Create a custom format for sort name and display name
2. search for contacts
3. use batch update via profile to update contacts
4. notice how display name and sort name are reset to the default, and the custom format is ignored
5. if you edit each contact, the correct custom display name and sort name are restored

Stoob, i'm unable to reproduce. I tried on demo & sandbox. Could you give more details / be more specific.

Here are attached screenshots showing the bug.

1. Notice the custom name formats. I created these formats here using 'nickname' as an example:
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/display?reset=1

2. Update these contacts via the Batch Update Via Profile

3. Notice how the Custom Format is erased, NickName is no longer displayed, even though teh data exists. If I edit a contact individually, the custom name format including nickname is restored.
