CiviCRM 4.1.1 Export of a date field in a custom data group extending participant record comes out in month dd, yyyy format rather than mm/dd/yyyy format as defined for the custom field.

to replicate this problem,
1) Create a custom field group that modifies participant record. In the CiviCRM demo site, there is already one that contains meal request information.
2) Add a date field to this group. We have been using the mm/dd/yyyy format without time.
3) Enter participant records for an event and populate the date fields.
4) Export the participant records with the custom date field.
5) Examine the custom date field in the export file.
