In Contributions, "in Memory of" - system puts soft credit to wrong contact if there is more than 1 contact with same name

I created two contacts with same name on drupal 6 latest civi demo site. Entered contribution, and in Honoree form entered name of one of the created contacts. Value not credited to the contact it was supposed to go against. Not surprising since there is no display of contacts to choose from. This is a big issue with one of our customers who fund raise for terminally ill people. They get many donations "in memory" of X or Y, and if there are several people with the same name making a donation, the donation is not credited to the right "in memory of" contact.
