      Description

The scenario: users could be able to attached files to a case when they create new case.

So, I have created a new set of custom data which is file that attached to CiviCase. The set of fields appears on the form but when I select file and click save the form has been saved but the file has not been uploaded. Each time I click the "Edit" button for this set of fields and a popup occurs - no file is uploaded. After editing also no files are visible on my form.

I have also created a set of custom data which is same as the one in CiviCase on CiviCampain and it works fine.

I've also tried on the demonstration website both CiviCRM4.1. They do not work as well.

I suspect the pop-ups dont allow file uploads. If you can investigate and help enhance that functionality it would be great. Ping us on IRC if u need help getting started

I've tested with IE9, Firefox 11 and on Google Chrome - all with popup blockers switched off and all failed. Have you checked the demo site I've posted? Does it fail also in your case?
And besides - as I've said - on CiviCampain it works well and one thing concerns me - in CiviCampain there is no "Edit" button which triggers the popup with file selection in CiviCase. Should it be like that? Why it is dufferent?

As i mentioned in my previous comment, most likely this is due to the way we deal with custom fields in civicase by using jquery popup widget to collect data. That was the design/UI choice for that page

You'll need to investigate and figure out why file uploads do not work in that style and submit a patch

Hmm, I thought issues can be filed not only by developers... I'm not a web developer and therefore I won't be able to figure out the reason why it doesn't work and apply a patch for this issue at all... Can this be fixed by somebody else then?

Yes, this issue is still open. Hopefully someone else with developer skills who needs this functionality will come along and help fix this issue.
