Registration Date Search Broken in Search Builder

Currently, the only place to search on registration date is in Search Builder. It's an important value — case in point when someone registers a whole bunch of people at a given time mistakenly and needs to delete their participation records. The registration date search using search builder is broken.

Problem 1) Searching yields no results, even though I've registered a couple of people today on the demo site who should fit the criteria (for example, Peter Adams for the event called HvO).

Just in case the time is also needed in the date registered search, I did a search for registration dates after July 5 and until July 6 using <> symbols.
Problem 2) The <> operators turned into = operators during the search, and the search yielded no results. See attached image for verification.

Side note: to search on registration date = July 5, 2012, the search builder documentation says you should enter the date 20120705. Incidentally, it also correctly translates 7/5/2012 to July 5, 2012.
