Cancelling 'leave page' warning popup and saving data on current form / tab makes submission to the new form / tab user attempted to go to before cancelling the popup

Specific details:

1. When a user makes changes to one tab.
2. Clicks on another tab without saving the work.
3. Gets a pop up warning which even on cancellation sets the action url of current form to the next-new tab that was clicked.
4. Due to which re-saving the current work makes submission happen on new url / tab.
