Confusing Workflow: Creating New Membership with 'Record Initial Smaller Payment

Create New Membership. Select 'Lifetime' Membership type. Select 'Record Initial Smaller Payment'.
Enter 20 in 'Amount to Pay Now'.
Select 'Record Membership Payment'
Now 'Amount' is autofilled with "NaN", which is confusing. This only seems to happen for 'lifetime' membership type.
