Event Registration with 100% Discount Code failing

With a 100% discount code from CiviDiscounts which leads to a contribution of 0.0, clicking the link to continue on the "Confirm Your Registration" page seems to lead the server to hang. (message waiting for server, but never completes)

Registration is added, but I never get to the Thank you for registering page.

This does not happen with an automatic 100% discount based on membership, so somewhere there is a difference on how the 0 amount is handled. Discount codes for < 100% discounts to get to the payment processor.
