Odd Status bounce behaviour on trying to edit a contact I don't have permission to edit

I'm logged in as a user who has permission to view all contacts but not to edit all contacts (some via ACL).

When I search as that user I get results with edit links on all contacts (those I have permission to edit & those I don't). When I click on one of those contacts the statusBounce kicks in but I wind up on a random contact page (one I visited earlier) rather than back at the search or the view page of the contact I can view but not edit.

I've tried searching multiple times & keep winding up on the last viewed contact page (even if it's from the last time I ran the search) - I have been using the back button to get back to the search but the previous & next don't do that.

Not sure if this is pre-existing or a regression - never tried before but it's hugely confusing behaviour. First choice would be not to display the edit button on the search (for any if they can't be partially filtered), second to be redirected to view page of same contact & last would be to wind up back @ the search. But, current is really tricky
