As a first start we might want to keep this localized to the US and use USPS web services for address standardization

When u sign up for an account, make sure u mention that u r using it for:

U.S. Postal Service® package shipments
U.S. Postal Service letters

You'll have to read the guides to get a better idea of what the web services do and how. We will also want a batch script to go thru all the address records in a db and clean them up
