Contact reference not displayed on custom field in event

When a custom field contact reference is added to an event, the event page doesn't display the name of the contact.

Step to reproduce:
create a custom set to event
add a field contact reference
create an event, select a contact in this field and save

When you edit, the contact name is properly set and displayed in the field

When you view the event, only the label is displayed, but the field is empty:

Expected result: have the name of the contact displayed.

It isn't a permission issue probably, as I'm watching the event with the same user that created it (and that can edit the field)
