Discrepancy between summary and detail contribution reports

      Description

Running a monthly report of recent contributions showed 48 contributions in the summary report and 47 in the detailed report, along with a corresponding discrepancy in the dollar amounts.

Digging through the underlying database shows the problem was caused by an incorrectly entered contribution, where the staff then tried to correct the problem by deleting contact instead of deleting the contribution. This made sense to the person because both the contact and the donation were bogus. As a result, the summary report includes the bogus contribution while the detailed report excludes it – creating an accounting confusion when trying to reconcile the books.

Ideally, the summary report should not include contributions from deleted contacts. Or Conversely, the detailed report should include the deleted contact, perhaps flagging it as a contribution from a "missing" contact as a means of keeping the data consistent.

Meanwhile, I'm retraining this person in the correct procedure to rollback incorrectly entered data.

BTW... we are actually running 4.3.3 but Jira does not recognize that version yet.
