CiviCRM custom fields (with selects) in Views are a mess

The way the custom fields from select fields render in Views are a mess. I'm actually doing a bit of pro-bono on behalf of Freeform Solutions for the civicrm.org site. The custom fields seem to be smushed into one string from an array (in one instance) or even produce an ajax error in the View and WSOD when trying to view the page. And another select custom field doesn't render properly with numbers.

It's probably better to explain the issues by email for civicrm.org site but this seems to be a general issue for Views integration
