Event listing menu item does not work

After having made an upgrade to 4.4.0 (on a backup fortunately) I found that the menu item type of Event Listing did not work.

Visiting the Joomla demo I found that it was not permitted to create a new menu item so I pasted together the URL is presumed would be generated and entered that in the address bar of a browser. And lo' and behold, it's empty to:

I'm using Joomla 2.5.14
