Warning msgs about exposed directories sometimes incorrect

Warning messages about the Debug Log and Upload directories being publicly readable are sometimes incorrect. In some situations, the directories are validly protected by .htaccess files and cannot be read publicly. I checked with Vidahost support and .htaccess at directory level is supported (and the files are publicly inaccessible, of course).
