Import does not map full country name to the ISO "short country name"

in microsoft outlook, the country name is stored as a string, for example "Lithuania". thus you cannot import the country directly into civicrm, which uses an integer to represent the country. Dave Greenberg mentioned on the mailing list that the import process should map the full country name to the ISO "short country name" and if a match is found, use that, but this does not seem to be the case. i reproduced the error on the demo site, so it seems to affect the 1.6 version as well. find attached the import error file generated by the import process. within the file are the contact data for some of our members, so if you could delete it when you are through with it, that would be great.
