Creating event price field fails silently if all amounts are entered with dollar symbols

If you try to create a price field and enter all the amounts with $ at the front you don't get an error message but the price field doesn't save, it just 'vanishes'.

If you only enter $ before some of the amounts you do get a warning and need to remove the $ before the price field can be saved.
