Allow relative URL's for Link custom fields

Currently, only fully qualified URL's are allowed in link fields (e.g., http://www.website.com/index.html). I need to link to pages on the local host, so it would be nice to allow relative URL's (e.g. /index.html). This would be helpful if the website domain name needs to change.
