DB error when >20 membership types are created

When more than 20 membership types are created on a site, the membership contribution page throws a DB error- the one below is what I copied from recreating the issue on the demo site.

The demo site gave the error when I tried to access the membership tab of the contribution page in the back end. On my site I got the error when I should have seen the thank-you page when registering for a membership on the front end.

Doesn't seem to be a problem with fewer membership types, but there's no warning of a limit.
