Validation prevents creating memberhip page

I'm logging this as a request for improvement because I figure it I find it hard to create a membership page after all this time is must be a block to others.

Steps - create new contribution page, after continue go to the membership tab & select a price set & save. It failes with the message

"Membership Price Set
You cannot use Membership Price Sets with the Contribution Amounts section. However, a membership price set may include additional fields for non-membership options that requires an additional fee (e.g. magazine subscription) or an additional voluntary contribution"

I was supposed to go to the contribution tab first & uncheck the contribution amounts section but this it not intuitive & I think we should make CiviCRM more accessible by doing something like unsetting 'enable contribution amounts' & displaying a message rather than setting it by default & requiring the user to figure out that on another tab, a checkbox they didn't touch needs to be unset
