Issues with Pending refund contribution status.

Not something to work on now, but wanted to start a discussion on this.

Just a quick one on "Pending refund" contribution status.

I'm not sure I like the name of this status for the partial payments and it's going to cause us some problems with some of our clients.

I understand that this status is given to a event contribution when the contact is due a refund as the fee has been reduced from the original fee due to having changed their selections, but having it as an option whist the contribution status is "paid" whilst also having "refunded" as another option is problematic.

Users have on several occasions said to us that they want to be able to mark a previously paid/completed contribution as pending refund, to note that although the refund is agreed, it may not have taken place yet. Correct me if I'm wrong but Civi doesn't currently support this workflow but in having the option there we are implying that it does.

When you try and change from completed >> pending refund the error message for this does not explain this and implies there may be some form of bug "Cannot change contribution status from Completed to Pending refund" as opposed to something more descriptive about the workflows that Civi actually supports.

Just wanted to point this out as I think we should look at an alternative...
