CiviMail recipients field becomes very slow to use on large sites

            Description

            In CiviMail the new 'Recipients' field combines a few things:

            Mailing list groups to include
            Mailing list groups to exclude
            Recipients of previous mailings to include
            Recipients of previous mailings to exclude

            On sites that do a lot of mailings, and have a lot of groups, searching in this field becomes very slow and chuggy.

            There are so some usability concerns, which are outlined in CRM-21420

            Would be great to have some discussion about how to make this field more usable and responsive, whilst preserving a good user experience.
