(possibly partial 4.7.10 regression) Confusing double presentation of contributions in contribution detail report

I want to challenge the default of

Contribution OR Soft Credit? Is equal to Both

On the contribution detail report.

I think this is fine to have as an available option but the default should be Contributions only because

1) it's a more performant query
2) there is no visual way to realise that some rows are just duplicates of others with different names against them so it's highly likely to be misunderstood.
3) at least on 4.7.10 the 'Total Amount (Contributions)' at the bottom is incorrectly double counting. I'm not seeing that on 4.7.9

Note that there was a separate ticket that messed with groupBy & such like on reports to get greater mysql compliance that could have caused a regression between 4.7.9 & 4.7.10. I did have a high level of discomfort with those changes & have not seen QA notes on them yet.
