[CiviVolunteer]: Allow requiring account login or creation for when volunteers sign up to hep at an event

Is there a way to require account login or creation when users sign up with CiviVolunteer? I tried creating a profile that requires account login, but the user name filed is not included in the signup form.

i'm pretty sure that for things like this we tend to require creating an account with a typed in user name if they aren't already logged in.

yes, when users sign up for an event through our volunteer signup form, we would like for them to create an account if they are not already logged in. for instance, this is the behavior for users registering an event, if we select logins as being required in the user contact info profile we have set up. there may be a setting that i'm missing, as i'm rather new to civicrm
