Allow Drupal views to be used for Notes related to contributions

Currently, Drupal Views only joins with the civicrm_note table for the contact entity type. It would be helpful if it also joined with that table for the contribution entity type (my immediate need) but there might be other entity types that could be helpful as well. There is a patch that was integrated into core that makes that join for the contact entity type. (https://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-14267) Could it be modified easily to include the contribution entity type, and applied to civicrm.org (the site I am trying to create the view for)?
