      Description

      When you send an email via Actions->Send Email, it does not show as being from the address you are logged in with or the one you choose from the drop-down. Instead it always uses the global From address.

      The reply-to address is correct, but the from address is not.

      I think it stopped working a few months ago (so somewhere in the 4.7.xx's). Someone has tested this on 4.6.28 and it is working.

          I've verified that this is a regression. It is working in 4.6.28;

          I just tested this on the latest rc and both addresses are available (although the site address is the default)

          There is a setting now that allows you to block the logged in contact address if that is desirable (usually in order to protect your email domain from being marked as a spammer)

          I'm going to close this as I think it has been resolved since it was logged

          Note I checked the emails arrived with the correct address

          This is still happening for me, the emails are sent from "no-reply@", which is the site default, no matter what address I choose from the dropdown.

          Naomi Rosenberg added a comment -

          The address it's sending from is not the site default though. It's the one that is used to authenticate with the SMTP server.

          So I don't think it's a Civi issue, it's Gmail restricting the use of the from address

          did you test on the 5.0 rc (due to be live release today)
