Custom Data type Date for Participants throws error while saving

            Description

            I created a custom data field for Participants, which is type Date. When I try to save a participation record with the new custom date field filled out, I get the following error:

            Sorry. A non-recoverable error has occurred.
            20080124040000 is not of the type Date

            This was check in the sandbox.
