I'm not sure if there are date ranges displayed anywhere else, but this page is verbose in a confusing way:
civicrm/event?reset=1
Dates currently look like:
October 30th, 2008 to October 30th, 2008
The following would be much cleaner:
October 30th, 2008
October 29 to 30th, 2008
October 30th, to November 1st, 2008
October 30th, 2008 to January 10th, 2009
