Description
Create a profile for use as a search form. For one of the fields, select visibility as "public user pages and listings," but do not indicate the field is searchable. Run the search and view one of the results. The field in question is hyperlinked to be searchable, but when you click the link it does not search based on that field – because the field is not set to be searchable.
Replicated on sandbox:
http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/profile?reset=1&gid=5
The postal code field will appear in the search results, but clicking the hyperlink yields all records.
Options:
1) The "searchable" option is required selected if "public user pages and listings" is selected as the visibility.
2) Selecting "public user pages and listings" allows the field to be searchable through the view details results, but does not include it in the actual search form. In other words, there are hotlinked searchable fields that are not form searchable fields.
Option 2 is preferred, as it gives more control over the form.
