Error when inserting an individual

I just installed CiviCRM
PHP 4.3.8
Zend ???
CivicSpace 0.8.0.3
Linux
Apache 2
MySql 4.0

The first thing I tried to do was insert an individual. After the insert I get this error:
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/pub/sites/jocodems.org/www/modules/civicrm/packages/DB/DataObject.php on line 1466

I then go back into the CiviCrm page and it said something like " Your Individual contact record has been saved.". I then went to the search page. At the top it says " * Recently Viewed:

• IndividualMrs Jane Doe

When I do a search on Doe, it says it finds a record, but nothing shows up in the search results.
