Civi Profile cannot be hidden at user edit page on Drupal

Even after unchecking profile listing and forms permission on Drupal, profile created is still shown. Permission using ACL works fine. The only problem is users may click on the profile link and get the broken link or error message, which may pass the idea there is a system issue or the system is misconfigured.
