CiviMail - Send Test Mailing to a Smart Group fails

On step 4 of Create and Send Mailing, if you select a "smart group" for "Send to this Group" - you get a fatal DB query error:

"Unknown column 'civicrm_group_contact-5.status' in 'field list'"

To recreate:
1. Create a smart group w/ at least 1 contact w/ a valid email address in it. Mark it as "Mailing List"
2. Create a new mailing, and select that group as recipient group.
3. On step 4, also select that group to receive the test mailing "Send to this Group"
