CiviGroup Roles Sync, does not sync

CiviCRM 2.2 and Drupal 6.10

I understand things as follows: CiviGroup Roles Sync, sync's Civicrm groups to drupal roles.

Scenario:
I have two login forms created with profiles, you fill out one form (with a user account) and you are in group a, you fill in the other form and you are in group b.
I have two drupal roles, role a and role b.
I have setup "Administer" --> "Site Configuration" --> "CiviGroup Roles Sync" and associated the "groups" with the "roles"

I then fill out a test user for both of the forms but when I look at the drupal users and what roles they are in......... they are in no roles. They should be in role a and role b, after I completed the form.

I just noticed there is a 2.2.1 as well, I have just upgraded to it and this has done nothing but I am unsure to what should "trigger" the sync or if it should just be automatic.
