javascript error in internet explorer 7 leaves new event fields unloaded

When adding a new event at the path civicrm/event/add&reset=1&action=add# on internet explorer 7, I get an empty form and a javascript error: "HTML Parsing Error: Unable to modify the parent container element before the child elment is closed (KB927917). My officemate gets the same error. I'm using civicrm 3.1 beta 4.
