Cannot add search results to an organization.

When trying to add contacts to an organization, you get as far as selecting a relationship type, and searching for the organization, but then get the error:

"Too many matching results. Please narrow your search by entering a more complete target contact name."

Steps to reproduce:

1) Do any search to return several contacts.
2) Tick "All xxx records"
3) Under "More Actions" select "Add contacts to organization"
4) User is prompted to choose relationship and target organization
5) No matter what organization you search for, or how you search, you get an error:

"Too many matching results. Please narrow your search by entering a more complete target contact name."
