Joomla CiviCRM menu items do not remember profiles

When creating a new Joomla menu item of type "CiviCRM -> CiviCRMProfile" , I can choose which profile to expose in the "Parameters ( Basic) " area. This part is working fine.

However, when I later edit the existing menu item, it has forgotten which profile I selected when I originally created it. This is occurring in my environment which is a fresh install of Joomla 1.5.20 and CiviCRM 3.2.1. I cannot reproduce it in the CiviCRM sandbox. I noticed a difference in my environment and the sandbox: In my install, the first option in the select list is " - Select Profile - ". ( This is the select list that allows me to choose the profile for the menu item ). In the CiviCRM sandbox, the first item in the select list is a real profile name.
