Description
Clean install of Joomla 1.6.1. Tried CiviCRM 4.0 alpha2, alpha3 and beta1.
Under Adminster>Manage>Access Control: Joomla Access Control lists all the various components of CiviCRM (and others) for which you can grant access to various roles.
In my 1.6 install, CiviCRM was included in this list with its various actions but none of the CiviComponents were listed. CiviContribute: XXX, CiviMail: XXX, etc. were not available to grant permissions to for joomla users.
The result is Public users could not access contribute pages, event pages, etc.
Uninstalled CiviCRM from Joomla.
Unzipped the 4.0beta1 for Joomla package again.
Replaced com_civicrm/admin/access.xml with the attached access.xml.txt (from lobo).
Reinstalled CiviCRM.
Menu options all worked fine.
