copying Dates using the Copy icon on a Batch update profile doesn't work

when trying to copy a date using the Copy icon on a batch update profile (to replicate the date on all the records selected for the batch update), the copy doesn't work. I created a batch update profile using a custom field with a Date format mm/dd/yy for an individual's record and an event participant's record along with the appropriate profiles to be able to handle batch updates. Other data types created for the batch update profile work fine with the Copy icon.

I was able to recreate it this on the demo site.
