Individuals matched/merged with organizations events when signing up for events

We noticed that CiviCRM is considering Organizations and Individuals duplicates when signing up for an event if they have the same e-mail.

I have re-created this on demo.civicrm.org. I created an Organization with the e-mail test2@example.org (http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/contact/view/participant?action=view&reset=1&id=263&cid=274&context=home). When I went to sign up an individual to an event (http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/event/manage/eventInfo?action=update&reset=1&id=3) with the same e-mail as the Organization the Organization is credited with the registration and no individual record is created.
