Search Results in Adv Search and Contribution search for Contributions do not match

1) go to Contribution Search
link : http://localhost/drupal/civicrm/contribute/search?reset=1

click the radio button for "valid" Status and hit Search
search result gives 9 records

2) now go to adv search
link : http://localhost/drupal/civicrm/contact/search/advanced?reset=1

click the radio button for "valid" status in Contribution block and hit Search (do not enter any other search criteria)
now search result gives all (101) records

both the searches should return same no of records .. ??
