"Share Address With" broken, only gives an error

Not completely sure but we think this problem started in 4.0.8.

The form functions properly: we can select "Share Address With" and select a contact to share with. However after we click save, we get the following message no matter what we try:

Please correct the following errors in the form fields below:
Please select valid shared contact or a contact with valid address.
