Date is incorrect/misformatted in membership receipt email

When I edit an existing membership to send confirmation & receipt, the email shows the received date incorrectly.
Received Date March 20th, 12

When I create a new membership, the received date is correct
Received Date July 16th, 2013

Both email receipts use the standard template Memberships - Signup and Renewal Receipts (off-line)
