CiviDiscount Codes Should Be Available on Non-Public Events

I tried on 3 installs including a fresh install of 4.2.9 and CiviDiscount v2.1 doesn't show any events when creating a discount. I do actually have active, fee based upcoming events using a price set with online registration. While I can apply the discount to the price set, I cannot apply it to events because events don't show up in the discount screen. See attached.

While I understand that this may not be a high priority, the extension page does list CiviDiscount as being compatible with v4.2.7+ of CiviCRM....

While I have little understanding of the code, it appears that getEvents() function is returning nothing for 4.2. https://github.com/dlobo/org.civicrm.module.cividiscount/blob/master/CDM/Utils.php

I'd like to help facilitate a fix or I'd like to ask that the discount page is changed to show it as only working with 4.3 if this can be confirmed as a bug that won't be fixed anytime soon.
