Civicontribute: Search by cumulative gift total

For organizations using CiviCRM as their primary donor-management database, it would be very helpful to be able to search the contact list based on a cumulative giving total.

For example:

1. Find households that gave between $100-500 in total contributions last calendar year
2. Find organizations that have given a total of at least $1000 over the life of the organization
3. Export a list of contributors between 12/1/2005 and 12/1/2006 with their display_name and cumulative gift total

AFAIK, none of these tasks are possible without some very laborious MS Excel work or custom php code.
