Upgrade to 4.4.5 causes contact photos to be unviewable

Found on client server then tested on demo site. When you upload a new photo for a contact it saves in sites/default/files/civicrm/custom (in Drupal). The htaccess file in there prevents the site from reading the contents of that directory so Civi can't actually use the photo.
