Views is not aware of new fields in civicrm_contact table eg _created_date or _modified_date

With Custom Tables, Views 'knows' about new fields when they get added. WIth the core civicrm_contact table this is not happening and hence 'new' fields that are added to civicrm_contact (and possibly other core tables) are not being made available through Views.
