Get DB Error when I try to add New Individual

New Wordpress 3.9.1 install with Civi 4.4.5, can't add New Individual from the Contacts menu - when I go to save the new record, I get:

"Sorry but we are not able to provide this at the moment.
DB Error: syntax error"
