Recurring contribution from Express checkout creates duplicate contribution record on first transaction

When a donor creates a recurring contribution using Paypal's Express Checkout option (ie logging in to a Paypal account rather than processing a credit card payment on our site), Civi creates two contributions records when it should create only one. The first record is created when Paypal establishes the recurring gift, the second record when Paypal processes the first payment of the recurring gift. The second gift is labeled as an "Offline Recurring Contribution." Subsequent installments process normally, and Civi records them as it should.
