CRM-1857 For Contribution Profile, cancelled transaction prevents future transactions (PayPal Std)

    Details

    • Type: Bug
    • Status: Done/Fixed
    • Priority: Major
    • Resolution: Cannot Reproduce
    • Affects Version/s: 1.7
    • Fix Version/s: 1.8
    • Component/s: CiviContribute
    • Labels:
      None

      Description

using paypal std, if a user (logged on or not) fails to complete a transaction after departing to paypal, an attempt to create a new contribution using the same information will not be routed to paypal.com. the "continue" button will go to "processing", and then user will be returned to original profile page.

this is a particularly serious problem considering how confusing paypal is (especially for recurring payments).

(not tested on sandbox; is there a way to do so?)

Can we please get more specific instructions on how to replicate this ideally something like:

          1. Use paypal standard as payment processor
          2. goto contribution page
          3. fill appropriate details and hit continue
          4. at confirm page hit continue again, u get redirected to paypal site
          5. return to open ngo from paypal or login and return without completing transaction (using the link on the paypal pages)

I tried the above sequence on my sandbox with firefox and could not replicate the issue

I tried to replicate this using 1.8 branch code (as of rev 10080) on http://sandbox.devel.civicrm.org/ - and was not able to reproduce the reported problem behavior. I tried the following variations:

          • Anon user, test-drive. Return to merchant from initial paypal login form. Repeat submit of CiviContribute form and complete successful test-drive contrib.
          • Anon user, test-drive. Same as above, but returned to merchant after logging in w/ a paypal account
          • Anon user, live page. Quite from PayPal login and from "create paypal account" forms.
