Ability to define same relation twice, but with different dates

Use case:

Let's say that John was working for Social Source Foundation two times in his career:
from March 1997 to April 2000 and
from January 2004 to October 2005

I want to use relations to record this kind of information, however, defining the same relation twice, even if it's with different dates, is not possible.
